Long awaited firmware which was delayed by Nokia for several months is now available for all proud owners of Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The commitment which Nokia is showing for it's more than 3 years old model Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is commendable.


What is new in firmware V60.0.003 -

  • New Fast and improved Anna Browser: versions v7.3.1.33
  • Swipe to Unlock
  • Update size: 7.277 MB
  • Two fold Speed/performance, making phone more stable
  • The music is little bit louder (few of us experienced this)
  • Around 55.6 MB free RAM with JBak, PocketLock and roaming Guard active

No Symbian Anna Updates for Nokia 5800 , 5530, N97 and X6

On 29th June, Nokia announced that they will soon release few symbian anna updates for selected Symbian S60 5th edition mobiles. Today after 2 months, they have removed the following mobiles from the list of mobiles to receive Symbian anna updates.

  • Nokia 5800 XpressMusic,

  • Nokia 5530 XpressMusic,

  • Nokia X6


These three models along with Nokia N97 will not receive any Symbian Anna updates. It seems Nokia is not sure what he is trying to do. Making false promises to their own loyal customers is not at all a good idea. You can check the official post from Nokia here.

Download Qt v4.73 , Qt Mobility v1.1.2 , Nokia Energy Profiler and PerfMon

As most of new Symbian applications are being developed using Qt framework, you are required to have latest Qt version installed on your mobile. Once you have latest Qt installed on your mobile, you will be able to enjoy the Qt based games and apps.


You can download the latest Qt versions along with Qt Mobility from the following download link. The download include the followings:

New Anna Updates are coming for Symbian S60v5 - Nokia 5800, X6 and 5530

According to a recent post in allaboutsymbian.com website, it is confirmed that Nokia is rolling out few updates for Symbian S60v3 and S60v5 based mobiles. These updates are mainly related to browser, OVI maps and emoticons in SMS and MMS. As per the news, There will be an updated version of the browser (Web v7.3 - Symbian Anna has the same browser). These updates will be available as firmware updates.


The upcoming firmware update will include changes in both the rendering engine (WebKit) and the UI of the the browser application. On demand new browser window provides multi-tab-like feature.  It is such a great news that Nokia is still supporting some of it's old smartphone like Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The updates as usual will be available sooner or later for all product codes.

The device is superb with such a unique design that no other smartphone can compete with it at this moment. Be it an iPhone or a Blackberry or an Android phone, after looking into Nokia N9, it seems they all are screwed.


Earlier there were rumors about the specifications of Nokia N9. Here is complete and correct specification-

Nokia N9 Teaser Advertisement - A Brand New Smartphone from Nokia

Here is a teaser video of upcoming smartphone from Nokia. After seeing the video, it is confirmed that Nokia N9 has MeeGo operating system and a 12 Megapixel camera simiar to Nokia N8. It is also rumoured to have 1.2 GHz Intel Atom processor and 4.2 inches AMOLED screen.


As per video, Nokia N9 is looking a solid piece of hardware which will contribute Nokia's success in smartphone in a big way. I am waiting for an official release of Nokia N9. What's your reaction guys?

Glastonbury Festival which is nearly upon us. and to make navigating the huge festival and getting the most out of the long weekend, Orange in association with the Guardian Guide have created the official app for Nokia which is available for free from http://glastonbury.orange.co.uk/.

Solar Chargers for Phone - Did anyone try with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic?

Solar chargers are being very popular among mobile users as an alternative to regular chargers. In United States, most of the people use such chargers to charge their iPhones. Solar chargers employs solar energy to supply electricity to devices or charge batteries and generally portable in design.



Did anyone try these mobile phone solar chargers for their Nokia 5800 XpressMusic? I am interested to know how much they are capable of charging and is it really worth purchasing them. Some of the name I am aware of are: Power Monkey, Sunttrica, Solio and freeloader. Guys, post your comments and suggestions.

Nokia W7 and Nokia W8 - Possibly the First Two Windows Based Smartphones

It's a bit off-topic for this blog reader who own Nokia Symbian devices but it seemed very interesting to me so I thought to share this with all my readers. According to a very popular gadgets and consumer electronics website Engadget, we can soon see these new Windows phone models from the house of Nokia.


I think we have seen these models very recently but with new Symbian Anna OS. Yes the new Windows phones by Nokia are W7 which is close (will be built on the same hardware and design) to Nokia X7 and Nokia W8 which is close to Nokia N8 in design and hardware. These conceptualized models look very promising and we hope that Nokia may back in smartphone business with such Windows based devices. (source: Engadget)

New Mail for Exchange Update v3.0 (73) Released for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Nokia has made available a new version 3.0.73 of Mail for Exchange software on Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and same can be updated via SW update from Applications folder on your mobile. Mail for Exchange (MfW) uses Microsoft ActiveSync to enable you to use the email, contacts, calendar entries, and tasks of your Microsoft Exchange Server account on your mobile phone.

Data is kept up to update through the process of synchronization. To use MfE you must have an account on an Exchange Server (2003 or 2007) .  If you are working in an organization then the IT department of your organization can provide you the required information about setting it up on your mobile.

In this new version of Mail for Exchange application you will see changes in user interface as well as other feature enhancements. Update to this version now and enjoy enhanced experience of MfE application on your mobile. The total size of this update is 1814 kB.

New Firmware V52.0.007 and Music Player Update 15.2.1034 for Nokia 5800

Nokia released a new firmware V52.0.007 for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. The firmware is available to download via OTA. You can also update this firmware by going into the Applications --> SW update. It is shown there as "Phone software".


The size of firmware is 4873 kB. Since firmwares are very important to your phone you should always update to new firmware available. This firmware will improve phone's performance and bring new features such as better touch screen experience, Enhanced rotation, etc. Though the official changelog is not available but there are number of small UI changes that you will notice after updating to this version.

There is another update available via SW update. It is "Music Player Update v15.2 (1034)". The update size is 687 kB. Always wanted to know the lyrics of that special song? This new feature displays the embedded lyrics of the song playing on your device. Download the update and then click on Options menu of Now Playing view to enable this feature when lyrics are available.

The application shows you the battery charge level with estimates of remaining usage time and charging time. The application also provides complete statistics of your recent energy usage.

The stylish interface of this application provides you all the information you can expect from such an application This information can be viewed in full screen application or homescreen widget on supported phones. Nokia Battery Monitor is used for monitoring device battery level, remaining operating and charging time, and personal energy usage history.

The widget can be used in devices that support home screen functionality. The Estimate tab shows a summary of activity estimates and remaining battery capacity. Statistics tab shows the distribution of overall and daily energy consuption. The application also provides two themes: Light and Dark. Dark theme is recommended for devices with OLED displays (like Nokia N8) due to lower power consumption.
